THE FOUNTAIN OF FAIR FORTUNE
Animated illustrations for an interactive fairy tale ebook based on the story "The Fountain of Fair Fortune" from "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" by J. K. Rowling.

"The Tales of Beedle the Bard" are the Grimm fairy tales of the magical world of J. K. Rowling. One of the fairy tales, "The Fountain of Fair Fortune", tells the story of three unfortunate witches and a luckless knight in search of a better life with the help of a magical fountain.
For this story, animated hand-drawn illustrations in the style of the magical world were created. Based on these, an interactive e-book was created that tries to mimic a magical storybook digitally.
Here you can see some pages of the e-book and below all the illustrations.

MAKING OF
The design challenge for this project was to tell an existing story multimodally, in this work through illustration, animation and text. To set a personal challenge, a lot should be drawn and painted by hand. As a starting point a fairy tale from "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" was selected.
The following shows the journey from the source text to the end product, a chapter of an interactive e-book:
